I am the Managing director of Carvin, who overseas Carvin Security Limited, Carvin Facilities Limited, and Carvin Events Limited.
I have been in the security and leisure sector for over 25 years, I started in security at the age of 19 years old, working as Door supervisor. Luckily, I worked for a great company who gave me lots of opportunity to get a varied workload and gain experience with a great team. I also at this time was working towards a qualification in carpentry and joinery, I worked on both for several years before taking up a mangers role for local public house, parents worked in this industry for just under 30 years. Fast forward through the years, I have progressed with my security career working my way through multiple qualifications till I became a Close Protection officer and have the opportunity to work with some interesting clients and some challenging job roles within this. I decided I wanted to use my experience from the job roles I have been blessed with and bring a more personable approach to security, the guards are a person with a name, not just a SIA License number, where clients’ needs are catered for, clients are listened too, and clients experience is a good one. We use this fundamentals through all the Carvin companies and I aim to always do so.
I’ve 18 years of experience in the security industry and business. I have worked in every aspect of the business from being a successful director, CP operative working with high end clients and celebrities, pub and club doors, Tv and film and for a great deal of time as an events security manager and operative concentrating on the special response side of events as well as planning. This covers everything from major arenas as well as every major festival big and small in the UK. University and corporate security management is a specialist area for myself also.
In recent years I’ve concentrated on business development and expansion and have a very in-depth relationships and contacts within the industry.
Having previously worked with Kev and Herbie before I knew I was joining the right team to build and back up my reputation.
Hi, I am Simon Tyler, overseeing Carvin’s Facilities division since being taken on personally by Kevin Martin (Managing Director) in early 2019 from TCFM, My career started within the security and facilities industry in 1998, starting as a steward, cleaner and gardener, prior to completing my SIA licence in 2004, at this point was when I promoted to become a manager for the company I was working for at the time, since then I have worked for some of the countries largest and most prestigious companies, as senior management within these. This includes, the Co-Operative Group, Event Management, TCFM, G4S and the Olympic Committee, this is one of my greatest achievements,
When I was head-hunted by G4S from Co-Op to become Senior Operations Manager for The London 2012 Olympic Games directly managing 3400+ staff throughout 6 Venues, including The Excel, 02 and Weymouth and Portland, this involved me working closely with both LOCOG, Military and the Government throughout the build up and during London 2012. The venues, I am my teams were overlooking were a huge success, this resulted me being named by Parliament on the completion of this. Commencing the contract in August 2011, I was personally responsible for the full Security Planning and implementation at all my venues liaising directly with both the Olympic Committee and as mentioned above parties.
Within all my roles, I have had a lead from the front mentality, having been fortunate enough to work my way from the ground to the role I now hold within Carvin. As a result of this, I know exactly what is needed and the communication with all clients, to deliver the high level of service you and I expect.
I personally enjoying developing employees in to becoming future managers, working from the same level I started, this is something that I have brought to Carvin, This aids in showing all of our clients getting the most valuable and best possible service from us as your facilities management provider, and with all management coming from the ground, this is a service that will continue to develop.
Outside of work I enjoy a frame of snooker when I can, trying to find time (and motivation) for the gym and spending time with my family. I do love traveling the world and seeing different cultures.
Through my career I have gained a strong relationship with the military & through their training I have helped establish business relationships & development for all associated tasks, which specialises in all aspects of the security industry, leisure & event management.
I have gained valuable experience in the British military that has provided me the skills in being a Security Advisor & Consultant for various companies in the United Kingdom and Worldwide locations over the past 20 years.
I assisted with the planning, managing and directing of various security operations, managing security teams, site security & guard force personnel in the UK & in hostile environments incorporating local nationals training, assisting with the security procedures, plans & systems of diverse companies with the design, implementation and management.
I am trained in personal protection, unarmed combat, conducting briefings & threat assessments, security management of protection services, security personnel and emergency services working in the field of operational security and personal security with visiting dignitaries & diplomats.
Driven to contribute skills and performance to benefit the Carvin organization and deliver successful execution/completion of any given task with a global network assisting clients with personnel, entertainment, investments & commodities as well as demonstrated adaptability to any environmental conditions while maintaining integrity, professional values, and focus
I began working within the leisure sector for a global company based in America, UK, Australia, and Europe. I worked my way through roles within the office environment, starting with customer retention, customer service and problem solving, enabling the client to gain the best experience while keeping service running smooth, while constantly developing the service/services. I had a deployment to Madrid, to train and support new members of the European team. I enjoyed my time helping develop skills within this sector and decided to pursue opportunities within training.
I was headhunted to oversee 300 first aid trainers, with a National provider. I enjoyed the challenges that was presented when taking this position, with fresh challenges and opportunities to progress the trainers, standards, and customer experience, I really enjoy taking on challenges and working strategically through. Fast forward some years and I have now taken on challenges within multiple business with my Husband, between the two of us and a great team, we are now running a lovely country pub in Northamptonshire, Facilities Company, Security Company, Events company, and catering van. All present their challenges on any different day but I look forward to where we can take the business’s, enjoy the experience and memories on the way.
